Producer and veteran executive Adam Reed has been named chief executive officer of Thinkfactory Media, part of ITV America, effective immediately as company CEO and founder Leslie Greif steps down to launch his new entertainment venture.
The move comes as British-based ITV acquires the remaining 35% of Thinkfactory Media, launched in 2011 by Greif, who sold a 65% stake in the prodco to ITV in 2013.
Reed (pictured, left), a 14-year veteran of the company, was named president of the Los Angeles-based television and film company Thinkfactory Media in 2016 by Greif (pictured, right). In Reed’s position as president, he oversees all aspects of production, creative and business development for the prodco,
He is responsible for co-creating and executive producing series such as Gene Simmons Family Jewels (A&E); Mama June: From Hot to Not; and 11 seasons of the franchise Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (WE tv), and the spinoff Family Boot Camp, among other titles.
Details of Greif’s next venture are pending. As founder of Thinkfactory, Greif was behind projects that have won multiple Emmys and a Golden Globe, and unscripted credits include the aforementioned Mama June: From Not to Hot, Marriage Boot Camp and Gene Simmons Family Jewels; R&B Divas and Hollywood Divas (TV One); Married by Mom and Dad (TLC); Preachers’ Daughters (Lifetime); and more.
The company also struck gold with its first major foray into scripted for cable, the History miniseries Hatfields & McCoys.
“I have loved every minute I’ve spent building Thinkfactory and creating our shows, and working with ITV, an incredible partner,” said Greif, in a statement. “There is always sadness to leave your ‘baby’ but, at the same time, I feel great in leaving the company on a high note, with a robust slate and in the talented, capable hands of Adam Reed. I have full belief and confidence in him and David George to nurture the next generation of Thinkfactory, as I go full tilt into the future.”
“I am grateful to Leslie who is an incomparable creative, as well as mentor and friend, and am so proud of everything we have accomplished,” said Reed. “Looking forward, I am eager and excited to collaborate with my core team, as well as the talented team at ITV America, as we grow Thinkfactory into its next iteration during a time of unprecedented opportunity in the content business.” ITV America CEO David George added: “Thinkfactory Media is one of the most unique and successful shops in our business – the legacy of Leslie Greif is undisputed and we know his next endeavor will be an immensely successful one. We could not be more confident in Adam’s creative and business acumen, and leadership, as he takes the reins of the company.”
