Discovery-owned true crime net Investigation Discovery will explore the vanishing of a young woman from her home in an upcoming special produced by American Media and Jupiter Entertainment.
The two-hour special, titled Susan Powell: An ID Murder Mystery, will explore the disappearance of Powell nearly nine years ago from her home in West Valley City, Utah. The 28-year-old mother vanished without a trace. All eyes turn to Powell’s husband of eight years, Josh who says he has no idea where his wife went, and whose odd behavior during the investigation unsettles local police.
The program offers an in-depth look at Powell’s disappearance, starting from the first report of her disappearance and culminating in the murder-suicide of her sons at the hands of her husband. Susan Powell: An ID Murder Mystery will delve into the investigation of Josh Powell to unravel a dark tale of dysfunction, obsession and jealousy.
The special features exclusive interviews with critical players in the case, including Susan’s family and friends, and the Powell family’s daycare provider, Debbie Caldwell. Also featured in the special are Ellis Maxwell, the lead detective on the case; Pierce County detective Gary Sanders, who assisted with Washington State investigation; and other legal experts and journalists who covered the case.
