California-based unscripted prodco 3 Ball Entertainment has re-upped Ross Weintraub as its sole CEO.
Weintraub, who joined 3 Ball in 2006 and was named co-CEO in 2015, will continue to run all aspects of the company and will work alongside newly appointed 3 Ball president Ronak Kordestani to expand the company’s creative slate of unscripted projects for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. Additionally, he will be tasked with growing the company’s footprint through joint ventures and other strategic partnerships.
“Ross is the ideal executive to helm 3 Ball and navigate this unquestionable period of change and disruption,” said 3 Ball chairman Reinout Oerlemans, in a statement.
Former co-CEO and co-founder Todd A. Nelson, meanwhile, will pivot back to his producing roots via a first-look deal with 3 Ball, while also pursuing new ventures in the tech and start-up space.
The news of Weintraub’s extension comes six months after the Redondo Beach, California-headquartered company’s launching of two separate unscripted television production banners: Jeff Jenkins Productions and Parabolic Films.
Headed by Jenkins and Weintraub, Jeff Jenkins Productions focuses on unscripted docuseries and formats, including celebrity-based projects meant for linear and digital platforms. 3 Ball is listed as co-producers on all JJP projects. Meanwhile, Parabolic Films, helmed by co-presidents Rick Sasson and Seth Sherman, produces unscripted content with a focus on mystery and action-adventure programming.
“The business is evolving at a faster rate than ever before,” added Weintraub ,” and we’re doubling down on our commitment to breaking splashy new formats, while also establishing 3 Ball as the ultimate creative hub – aligning with talented producers from across the industry and offering the infrastructure for them to do their best work. These initiatives will be the building blocks that help shape the future of our company.”
