Discovery Channel has inked its first commission with The Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond.
Produced by Chimp Productions, Richard Hammond’s BIG! (10 x 60 minutes) follows the British automotive presenter (pictured) on a global adventure to explore the world’s largest structures and machines in an attempt to understand how engineers go about building, maintaining and implementing these designs.
Each episode of the series sees Hammond travel to a new location and mega structure where he meets the front line workers making them work, in addition to exploring the science behind them via a series of experiments. Hammond will venture to numerous locations over the course of the series, including the UK, U.S., Germany and Italy.
Richard Hammond’s BIG! was commissioned for Discovery by Victoria Noble, senior director and exec producer, with Oliver Wilson as executive producer. Andrew Barron is series producer and Michael Massey is executive producer.
Discovery will commission, produce and distribute the series worldwide.
Richard Hammond’s BIG! will bow on Discovery Channel across a number of markets, including the UK, Netherlands and France; Science Channel in the U.S; and channels including DMAX Italy, Spain and Germany across EMEA.
