Pentimento Productions’ feature documentary Very Ralph will debut on HBO next month, offering “unprecedented access” to the life and work of iconic fashion designer Ralph Lauren
The film, directed and produced by Susan Lacy, sees Lauren (pictured) enter his 60th year in business.
He reflects on his journey from the Bronx to become an emblem of American style, speaking candidly in interviews about his childhood, 50 year marriage and the early days of the company. He also responds to criticism.
Very Ralph features archives from 50 years of the fashion brand, as well as interviews with Lauren’s family, long-standing colleagues and other notables, such as Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld, Hillary Clinton, Naomi Campbell, Martha Stewart, Calvin Klein and Diane von Furstenberg, among others.
Alongside Lacy, Emma Pildes and Jessica Levin serve as producers. The film is executive produced by Graydon Carter.
Lacy, the creator and former executive producer of the PBS series ‘American Masters,’ has produced and directed a broad library of films. Her previous HBO documentaries include 2017′s Spielberg and 2018′s Jane Fonda in Five Acts.
Very Ralph premieres Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
