British pubcaster Channel 4 is bolstering its digital content unit with the appointment of Janine Smith, former ITV head of digital entertainment, and Laura Marks, previously national and regions executive at C4.
Smith will join the company as content director while Marks moves to the role of digital content commissioner.
The executives are the latest senior hires for the unit, which will develop content targeted to young audiences across key social media channels.
Working closely with Matt Risley, head of the unit, Smith will lead content and delivery teams out of the national headquarters in Leeds.
She will also lead the recruitment drive to find the creatives for the unit and oversee delivery of C4′s cross-platform strategy and branded content campaigns.
Based in Glasgow, Marks will work closely with the C4 commissioning team to help commission and produce the broadcaster’s social slate of original programming and branded content series.
“Janine is an award-winning director with a proven track record in leading and executing industry-leading content campaigns, and I’m delighted she’s joined our team,” Risley said in a statement. “Laura has a wealth of experience in commissioning original multiplatform content in comedy and entertainment which is going to be invaluable to the DCU.”
