AMC Networks-owned American pay-TV channel WE tv has tapped unscripted veteran Ashley McFarlin Buie to the position of vice president of development.

In her new role, Buie oversees new and developing projects for WE tv and will serve as executive producer on the series Beyond the Pole.

Based in New York, Buie reports to David Stefanou, SVP of original programming and development.

“Ashley is an extraordinary storyteller with a long history of crafting some of the most popular unscripted shows in television,” Stefanou said in a statement. “Her storytelling expertise and eye for talent make her a fantastic addition as we continue to cultivate even more hit series for WE tv’s passionate audience.”

With a career spanning more than 20 years, Buie has worked on a multitude of shows with various television networks such as Bravo, Discovery, OWN, Oxygen, CNN, MTV, Travel Channel and VH1, producing series such as The Real Housewives of Potomac (season one), The First Family of Hip Hop, Southern Charm New Orleans (season one), Love and Hip-Hop spin-off series Meet The Mackies and Girls Cruise.

Buie, who began her career as a production assistant at CNN, is also the founder of Bird’s Eye Entertainment, Inc.

She has also served as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University and a guest lecturer at Yale and Clark Atlanta Universities, as well as co-director of non-profit Harlem: The Power of You Teens.
