John de Mol’s Talpa Entertainment Productions has tapped former ITV Studios (ITVS) Global Entertainment executive Sebastian van Barneveld as director of international distribution.
Van Barneveld (pictured) will operate from the Netherlands, with a strong focus on building partnerships globally.
He previously held several executive distribution roles within legal and sales at Endemol International and Talpa Global, and was most recently employed as head of licensing emerging markets at ITVS Global Entertainment (ITVSGE).
In a statement, de Mol said: “Now that we are building a new fresh format catalog, the logical next step is to set up a solid distribution arm. I am very happy that Sebastian is joining the team to make this his first priority.”
De Mol — the creator of such formats as Big Brother and The Voice – is the founder of Endemol and Talpa Media, the latter established in 2009 and later sold to ITV in 2015, where it was fully folded into ITV Studios.
His Talpa Network operates four free-to-air TV channels and a Dutch video platform. The company recently released two formats, Split Screen and Hit the Road.
