UK indie Tuesday’s Child has been tapped by ITV to produce Apocalypse Wow, a new game show launching this summer.
The format will air on ITV2 and ITV Hub. British TV presenter AJ Odudu (pictured) will host the series alongside actress and comedy writer Donna Preston.
Apocalypse Wow will see TV stars and comedians led through a “Torture Dome” where they’ll have to defeat opponents ranging from strongmen to Gravy wrestlers in physical challenges to win a cash prize for charity. Contestants on the show include TV personality Scarlett Moffatt, Love Island star Chris Hughes, TV presenter Karim Zeroual and more.
The executive producer on Apocalypse Wow is Steph Harris and the series producer is Ben Wilson.
“I am absolutely buzzing to be hosting ITV2′s new show, Apocalypse Wow – it’s bonkers, but brilliant. It’s full of humour, challenges and all our favourite celebrities,” Odudu said in a release Wednesday (April 21).
Originally launched in 2012, Tuesday’s Child Television specializes entertainment, comedy and factual formats. The producer has created and produced other game shows such as LEGO Masters, Killer Camp and The Hit List.
“I cannot wait for ITV2 viewers to be captivated by the sheer craziness that is Apocalypse Wow; truly an outrageous and entertaining watch,” said Paul Mortimer, ITV head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions.
