The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has found a new head of commercial in Jessica Ellis, who has been in the role since August.
Ellis first joined ABC in 2007. Her most recent position was head of content sales and distribution, where she was responsible for delivering commercial’s success across global TV distribution, news syndication and home entertainment.
ABC Commercial credits her leadership with helping the company to sign major output deals with distribution partners around the world, leading to exponential growth of its business. Ellis has secured ongoing partnerships with Netflix, iTunes, Spotify and Stafn, and signed landmark syndication deals to expand ABC News content to new audiences. She also works with the Australian TV production industry to secure global distribution rights to key ABC franchises.
“ABC Commercial continues to face the challenges being seen elsewhere in content distribution, media and retail sectors. Jess brings the depth of experience and the range of skills necessary to lead ABC Commercial through the challenges, whilst continuing to align Commercial activities against the ABC’s Five-Year plan,” said Melanie Kleyn, ABC chief financial officer, in a news release.
