Queen Elizabeth doc lands on ITV3

UK broadcaster ITV3 has secured the rights to the one-hour special Elizabeth II, The Diplomat Queen (pictured) from distributor Zodiak Rights.

The special was commissioned by France 5 and made by Paris-based CB Productions, whose output focuses on docs on the British Royal Family. It looks at the influence the Queen has had over her 60-year reign.

Rare archive footage featuring U.S. presidents John F Kennedy, George W Bush and Barack Obama; former French presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Jacques Chirac; and former South African president Nelson Mandela is included, alongside interviews with the former master of the royal household and a number of former ambassadors.

Elizabeth II has also been acquired by Foxtel in Australia, RDI for French-speaking Canada, TVI in Portugal, China LIC for CCTV, Cineplex Company in Thailand, Television Broadcast Limited in Hong Kong, VMMA in Belgium, Radio and Television Slovakia ,and Gravis in Ukraine. The program pres-old to RTBF in Belgium and TSR in Switzerland.

“This well-researched documentary gives a vivid impression of the huge political and social changes Queen Elizabeth II has witnessed first-hand over the last 60 years. We look forward to bringing the documentary to ITV3 in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year,” said  Sasha Breslau, head of acquired series at ITV.
