UK indie prodco Zig Zag Productions has sold its one-off, 60-minute doc Real 40 Year Old Virgins to networks in a host of territories, including the U.S., Australia, Germany and Norway.

The program follows a pair of individuals as they meet with sex therapists and accredited sex surrogates in order to deal with long-standing difficulties regarding physical and emotional intimacy.

Discovery Communications’ Discovery Fit & Health will air the program in the U.S., while Australia’s ABC, RTL2 in Germany, Norway’s TV Norge, TV2 in Denmark, SBS in the Netherlands, VMMA in Belgium and Discovery TLC in Poland have also bought the doc. The program originally aired on Channel 4 this year.

“Zig Zag is famous for producing documentaries that get people talking,” said Leila Monks, Zig Zag Productions’ vice president, commercial and current production, in a statement. “International markets are still hungry for high quality one-off docs that reflect the extremes of society and it’s fantastic to see the global appetite for our latest documentary is so strong.”
