“Blackfish,” “Tim’s Vermeer” among Critics’ Choice nominees

The Broadcast Film Critics Association has named the five titles nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 19th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards (CCMA).

The nominees are The Act of Killing, Blackfish (pictured), Stories We Tell, Tim’s Vermeer and 20 Feet from Stardom.

The Act of Killing, Stories We Tell and 20 Feet From Stardom picked up best doc honors from regional critics’ association across the United States over the weekend.

The awards feature 28 categories and are considered a precursor to the Oscar nominations, which will be announced on January 16 – the same date the CCMA ceremony airs on U.S. network The CW.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association is the largest film critics organization in the U.S. and Canada, and represents more than 250 TV, radio and online critics.
