Essential hires development exec

Australian-headquartered prodco Essential Media and Entertainment has hired Leo Faber as its new factual development executive.

Faber comes to Essential from working on such programs as Whatever! The Science of Teens, Miracle in the Storm and MasterChef as a writer and series producer, and has worked with such companies as Beyond Productions, Southern Star/Endemol and FremantleMedia.

Faber will be working with head of factual Alan Erson and Michael O’Neill, head of factual content development.

The company has also brought on board Chris Irvine as its commercial director. Irvine had been with SBS Television Australia since 2007, where he was head of business affairs for its content division.
