The Sundance Institute and Skywalker Sound have named the 10 directors and composers that will participate in the documentary edition of their Music and Sound Design Labs.

The program, which is operated by the Sundance Institute’s Film Music Program and Documentary Film Program, gives composers, sound designers and directors a chance to collaborate on designing a film soundtrack.

Participating directors include Marc Silver (3 1/2 Minutes), Mike Day (The Island and the Whales), Anna Sandilands and Ewan McNicol (Uncertain), and Bill and Turner Ross (Western). The composers are Kent Sparling, Linda Oh, Ross Garren and Sage Lewis.

This year’s creative advisers are composers Todd Boekelheide and Miriam Cutler, re-recording mixer Lora Hirschberg, and editor Vivien Hillgrove.

The 2014 Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Lab runs from September 15-23 at the Skywalker Ranch in northern California. It is one of 15 residential labs that represent 20 weeks of mentorship for up-and-coming film talents.
