U.S. arts net Ovation TV has named Mike Pons (pictured, left) to the role of senior VP of content distribution, and has promoted Scott Woodward (right) from senior VP to exec VP of programming and production.

Woodward – who joined Ovation in November 2013 and oversaw series including The Art Of  and Young Marvels - will manage forthcoming series and specials such as On the Record with Mick Rock, American Canvas and Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno Live.

“In the last 14 months, Scott has made developing, producing and programming highly rated original content a top priority for this network,” said Charles Segars, CEO of Ovation TV, in a statement. “By combining creative and strategic thinking, he’s infused a new energy into our programming department and created a model for success that has our arts-focused network on an upward trajectory for ratings and brand awareness.”

Elsewhere, Pons – who was previously general manager of business development for Cox Communications – is to oversee the network’s relationships with accounts such as DirecTV, Dish, AT&T U-verse and Charter, and is also charged with bolstering the distribution strategy for SD, HD, VoD and TV Everywhere platforms.

Pons will be based in Santa Monica, and is to report to Ovation’s executive VP of content distribution Brad Samuels.

Prior to his roles at Ovation and Cox, Pons co-founded commercial cloud services company Essential Cloud, and also served as VP and general manager of The Weather Channel’s local media division, managing the net’s local efforts across TV, radio and digital properties.

“Distribution hit a milestone 52 million subscribers in 2014 and we continue to experience strong support and great relationships with the largest pay-TV providers,” said Samuels. “Mike’s extensive experience in business development and strategic partnerships is critical to our success as we continue to expand our footprint and range of distributor partnerships in the future.”
