U.S. cable net BET is rolling out its reboot of the hidden camera prank series Punk’d in August.
The new Punk’d – like its predecessor, which ran on MTV from 2003-2007, with another season airing in 2012 – will be produced by Katalyst Media and is exec produced by Jason Goldberg, who created the series with Ashton Kutcher. According to a statement from BET, the new season, specially tailored for the network’s audience, will take viewers behind the scenes of the prank, from conceptualization to execution. It’s set to debut on BET on August 18th.
BET has also announced the premiere date for its upcoming docuseries starring NFL star DeSean Jackson. The wide receiver and his largely female team of advisers, including his “momager” Gayle and sister/assistant A’Dreea, will be the focal point of DeSean Jackson: Home Team, produced by Rogue Atlas Productions and premiering on June 30.
Returning series on BET and sister net Centric include Being, a docuseries highlighting the careers of soul and R&B stars airing on Centric; the final season of The Game on BET; Frankie & Neffe, a docuseries featuring Keyshia Cole’s mother Frankie and sister Neffe; and Nellyville, featuring hip-hop star Nelly.
