Global distributor Banijay International has secured the worldwide rights to ITV’s forthcoming docuseries following Billy Connolly’s (pictured) latest journey across America.

Produced by London-based indie 7 Wonder, Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America (3 x 60 minutes; pictured) will feature the Hobbit and The Last Samurai actor traversing 28 states and 8,000 miles across the U.S. mainland by locomotive.

Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America marks the third travelogue series for ITV in which the Scottish comedian and actor is featured. The program joins Billy Connolly: Journey to the Edge of the World, which followed Connolly from coast to coast across Canada; and Billy Connolly’s Route 66, in which he biked across America’s most celebrated highway.

Elsewhere, Banijay International has also picked up the international rights to Hatch, Match and Dispatch (8 x 30 minutes, Fredbird CDK), showcasing personal accounts from within Australia’s Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages and The Public Trustees; and Killer on the Line (8 x 60 minutes, Thumbs Up Productions), an in-depth examination into homicides in which the culprit made emergency calls themselves.

“Tracks Across America offers viewers a spectacular explorative journey across the length and breadth of America, all in the company of a host who is incredibly passionate about the country he now calls home,” said Jimmy Humphrey, VP of sales and acquisitions at Banijay International, in a statement.
