Thinkfactory Media will adapt the Finnish game show format Hide The Smile for U.S. audiences.

Created by Yellow Films/Story Of for Finnish broadcaster YLE, the show challenges contestants to keep a straight face while performing sketches with a comedy troupe in front of a live studio audience. Producers come up with bizarre scenarios, costumes and celebrity guests in a bid to make contestants laugh.

Comedian Larry the Cable Guy will host and exec produce the American version. Thinkfactory Media’s Adam Reed, Adam Freeman, Leslie Greif¬†and Maggie Houlehan also serve as executive producers. A network is not attached.

Hide The Smile has also been adapted for a tween audience on Canadian French-language channel Vrak and has been licensed in the Ukraine.

Thinkfactory licensed the series through London-based Small World IFT Distribution.
