Fired Up Films, the prodco established by industry veterans Simon Howley and Jon-Barrie Waddell, has struck a multi-year overall television partnership with global content studio Entertainment One (eOne).
The Toronto-headquartered eOne will coproduce and serve as the studio on non-scripted and scripted content stemming from the deal.
Having launched last year, Fired Up is focused on producing scripted and non-scripted television projects with an eye towards blue-chip series and documentaries, fact-ent formats, feature docs and top-end drama. The company has offices in Hollywood, Ireland and London.
Prior to launching Fired Up Films, Howley was the founder of Kowalski TV, a company he ran for nine years. Before that, he was a freelance executive producer working on productions in the UK and U.S.
Waddell, meanwhile, served as creative director of Waddell Media where he initiated and developed the series Chasing Time for National Geographic and Future Weapons for Discovery.
Howley and Waddell have produced global content across a range of genres, including Channel 4 and BBC Worldwide’s Million Dollar Car Hunters; National Geographic and C4′s Hitler’s Hidden Drug Habit; Discovery U.S. and C4′s How Jaws Changed The World; Channel 5′s Russ Meyer: King of Sexploitation; and Netflix’s The Great Train Robbery: A Tale of Two Thieves, among others.

We look forward to working with them as we continue to expand our non-scripted business in key markets,” said Tara Long, eOne’s EVP of alternative programming, television, in a statement.
“Working with Tara and her creative team in Los Angeles is key to our U.S. expansion as we continue to build our premium content and target established networks and new platforms with Fired Up Films,” Howley and Waddell added.
The deal follows a wave of news coming from eOne, including a first-look deal with David Solomini’s Los Angeles-based content shingle Crush+Lab; buying a majority stake in UK prodco Whizz Kid Entertainment; and appointing Madison Merritt to the post of SVP of development, alternative programming and television.
