Armoza Formats’ Who’s Asking? heads to Hungary

Armoza Formats’ studio game show Who’s Asking? (pictured) has been licensed in Hungary and is slated to air on Sony Pictures Television Network’s Viasat3 later this year.

Produced by United Studios of Israel, Who’s Asking? (30 x 60 minutes) is not about the question, but who asks it. Instead of picking the type of questions to be asked, the two pairs of contestants must select an “asker” from the faces on the screen in front of them. In the first round, they will pick an “asker” for themselves, while in the second round they pick for their opponents, and, in the third and final round, they face a pyramid of “celebrity askers” with the goal of winning the grand prize.

The format has a third season airing soon on Switzerland’s RTS, marking more than 300 episodes for the Swiss adaption.

GRB’s Man At Arms goes global 

GRB Entertainment’s weapons-focused series Man At Arms has been sold to multiple global territories.

Produced by Defy, the series has been taken by A&E Ole Network in Latin America, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific in India, and Viasat for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

Man At Arms follows expert artisans as they skillfully reproduce iconic weapons from film, TV and video games from scratch using both the tools that would have been available at the time such weapons were originally created, as well as current state-of-the-art technologies. Experts then test each weapon for its strength and functionality.

Passion Distribution content takes flight

London-based sales house Passion Distribution has pre-sold the factual entertainment series Planes Gone Viral.

The 8 x 60-minute primetime fact-ent series has been acquired by Network 10 in Australia, Sky in New Zealand and NTV in Germany. From Pioneer Productions, the series looks at the world’s most shocking aircraft incidents caught on camera and reveals the science behind them.

Furthermore, Passion Distribution has licensed 160-plus hours of programming to broadcasters in Germany from its fact-ent, documentary and entertainment slates.

RTL has taken a raft of programs including seasons one and two of All New Cold Justice (30 x 60 minutes) and Cold Justice: Sex Crimes (10 x 60 minutes), both produced by Magical Elves and Wolf Reality. RTL has also licensed Charlie Luxton’s Homes By The Med season one and two (12 x 60 minutes) produced by True North Productions.

Voltage TV’s Last Days of Pompeii (3 x 60 minutes), meanwhile, has been acquired for RTL GEO, while Lambent Productions’ Secrets of the World’s Super Skyscrapers (2 x 60 minutes) has been picked up by N-TV.

Sport1 has acquired a package deal that includes the pre-sale of Zig Zag Productions Japandemonium (6 x 30 minutes). The package also includes Klondike season four (10 x 60 minutes & special: 1 x 60 minutes) from Paperny Entertainment and Find It, Fix It, Flog It season one and two (45 x 60 minutes) from HCA Entertainment and Yeti Media.

ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland has acquired seasons two through four of Make You Laugh Out Loud (29 x 60 minutes) and compilation series Funniest Ever Lols (6 x 60 minutes), which features the best moments from across all four series of Make You Laugh Out Loud. Both are produced by Mentorn Media. ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland has also licensed season 10 of Robot Wars (8 x 60 minutes), which is produced by Mentorn Media, SJP Media and BBC Studios.

Jia Salindong-Du joins Turner Asia-Pacific

Turner Asia-Pacific has tapped Procter & Gamble exec Jia Salindong-Du as country manager for the Philippines.

Salindong-Du will be responsible for the channel distribution of Turner’s local brands, including CNN International, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Warner TV.

Additionally, she is tasked with growing Turner’s kids and entertainment business in the Philippines, “which includes developing local content opportunities, creating greater consumer experiences and expanding the brands’ fanbase,” the network said in a press release.

“Jia has worked in a number of brand management and business development roles, and she will be an excellent leader for our highly-ambitious team in Manila,” said Vishal Dembla, GM of Turner’s business in Southeast Asia, in a statement. “The Philippines is one of our most important markets in Southeast Asia and, with Jia now in place, we are confident of continued growth there.”
