Banijay Group-owned studio Stephen David Entertainment and New York indie label Marabella Productions have secured a production and development pod deal to produce true crime formats.

Under terms of the strategic partnership, Stephen David Entertainment will have access to Marabella’s pipeline of global development and crime contacts.

The pod team has already sold Investigation Discovery on The Interrogator, a tentatively titled 6 x 60-minute crime series that features the case files of host Fil Waters, a former Houston homicide detective whose 96% case closure rate is among the highest in the country.

Both companies are represented by CAA.

“This strategic partnership amplifies our output,” said Mark Marabella (pictured, right), founder and principal partner of Marabella Productions, in a statement. “I’m excited to share what we’ve discovered through the years of working in the true-crime genre and combine it with the incredible award-winning team at Stephen David Entertainment.”

“Marabella stands out when it comes to producing true-crime,” added Stephen David (left), founder of Stephen David Entertainment. “We’ve been discussing this deal for years and I’m glad lightning finally struck in 2019.”
