Asylum Entertainment Group, the content company founded by veteran producer and entrepreneur Steve Michaels, has bolstered its international expansion efforts with the appointment of former ITV Studios Global Entertainment executive Ronan Hand.
In the new role Hand will serve as SVP of global content and is tasked with presenting intellectual property from within the AEG umbrella to the international marketplace. Additionally, he will be responsible for working with global indies to bring unique formats and properties to the U.S. market. He has already established partnerships with a number of British production houses including Miles Jarvis and Jaimi West’s Phoenix Television, adventure specialists Marshal Bishop and Screendog Productions.
Reporting directly into AEG CEO Steve Michaels, Hand will oversee the company’s newly launched London offices.
Hand will also work closely alongside The Content Group president Jodi Flynn and Derek Stoops, EVP of drama label Clovis Entertainment, to bring international scripted and non-scripted projects to the U.S. market.
Prior to joining AEG, Hand served as SVP of global content at ITVS GE where he helped finance such brands as Love Island, 24hrs in Police Custody, River Monsters and The Graham Norton Show. Before this, he held senior roles at Fox International and Virgin working across the international broadcast of dramas including Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels.
“Ronan is the perfect executive to expand Asylum’s interests throughout the world,” said Michaels in a statement. “He has a long and successful track record of acquiring content and creating meaningful international co-productions. Ronan is exceptional at maximizing the value of IP and growing the global footprint of capable producers.”
