Global content creator and TV channel Insight TV has commissioned French production outfit FastFokus to produce the adventure documentary Sandboarding on Dragon Hill.
The documentary, shot entirely in 8K UHD HDR, invites viewers into the competitive world of sandboarding in the Atacama Desert, a desert plateau in the South American city of Iquique, Chile.
The film follows Canadian mountain bike legend Brett Tippie as he travels to Chile to ride the biggest sand dune in the world.
Tippie will be joined by Iquique’s local and two-time sandboarding world champion Jose Martinez and his lifelong friend and ex pro-skier Richie Schley as they head to some of the best sandboarding locations in the area.
Sandboarding on Dragon Hill marks the second collaboration between Insight TV and FastFokus following the mountain biking docuseries MTB Heroes: Trailblazers, which premiered in 2017.
“Over the past year, we have experimented with 8K and have been blown away with the results,” said Natalie Boot, director of media sales at Insight TV, in a statement. “Sandboarding on Dragon Hill is our first full-length documentary film in 8K and we think viewers will be equally blown away with the powerful sensory experience of this film.”
“We are delighted to be working with Insight TV on another adventurous show with some of the world’s best mountain biking talent. Insight TV and FastFokus share a passion for bringing extreme sports to life with thrilling content filmed in the highest quality, ” said Damien Vergez of FastFokus.
Sandboarding on Dragon Hill is slated to premiere on Insight TV this June.
