In partnership with Realscreen, industry veterans T Ferguson and Patrick Jager are presenting the second season of their video series The Distillery. In this episode, T and Patrick bring together three panelists from myriad creative disciplines to discuss diversity in storytelling. Diversity is more than the story — it needs to be reflected in hiring practices, environment, opportunity and a willingness to address the issues that people within diverse communities face every single day. Joining the conversation are: Bree Frank, VP of physical production for Hello Sunshine and founder of the non-profit Hue You Know, which bolsters diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging and works to build community, provide mentorship, and foster employment opportunities for BIPOC media professionals; Alejandro Lopez, head of Mediabrands Content Studio (MBCS) where he creates data-fueled content campaigns for Mediabrands clients throughout the U.S. He is also the co-founder of HYPHN, a young-adult mentorship program that supports and pairs up-and-coming racially and ethnically diverse creative voices with leaders in their fields; Charlene Jimenez, director of entertainment partnerships & advocacy at Define American — a non-profit media advocacy organization that works with Hollywood creatives to help them develop more accurate and humanized immigrant characters as well as partner on advocacy campaigns and events.
