ITV has commissioned a new game show offering contestants up to £100,000.

Sitting on a Fortune is an ITV Entertainment format co-produced by ITV Studios labels Possessed and Potato. The series will be hosted by former professional English soccer star Gary Lineker.

The series features six contestants who won’t get any lifelines, safety nets or chances to walk away, meaning players must risk everything on getting the right answer to take home the top prize. Players must take the stage and position themselves in a row of seats, one behind each other, and where you sit makes all the difference as the head of line can answer questions, stay in the game and have the chance to win the jackpot. One wrong answer, and a player will be sent to the back of the line.

Sitting on a Fortune was commissioned by head of ITV Entertainment commissioning Katie Rawcliffe and ITV commissioning editor for entertainment Joe Mace. Glenn Hugill is executive producer on the series for Possessed, with Michael Kelpie, Martin Scott and Barry Hart from Potato. ITV Studios will handle international distribution for Sitting on a Fortune.

“This is a game with no gimmicks, no lifelines and nowhere to hide. It’s all about trusting your gut instinct to pick the perfect place in the line and backing yourself to get every question right,” Hugill said in a news release.

Kelpie added: “At the heart of any good game there must be a simple idea. Sitting On A Fortune asks each player one question… ‘Where would you like to sit?’ That decision could change one person’s life and drives the drama, excitement and fun that makes this compelling, competitive and entertaining.”
