IPCN scores option deal for Turkish DJ series “The Remix”

Shanghai-headquartered format producer-distributor IPCN has inked an option deal with Istanbul-based Global Agency to reformat dance music talent series The Remix (pictured) in China.

The live weekly competition series highlights DJs and vocalists working together to create a remixed version of a chosen song over a three-day period. Once complete, the pairs are to perform the tune in front of four celebrity judges and a live studio audience for the chance to win cash prizes and the opportunity for a major label contract.

Following the performance of season one in Vietnam, VTV3 has already renewed The Remix for a sophomore season.

IPCN’s portfolio contains a number of localized formats for the Chinese market that include The Secret Millionaire, Supernanny and China’s Next Top Model.

“Electronic Dance Music is experiencing phenomenal growth in many areas of China. We think The Remix will cater for that demand,” said IPCN CEO Rebecca Yang in a statement. “We’re confident that our production capabilities coupled with our experience of remaking music talent formats in China will help make this format a success in China.”
