Viacom-owned net MTV UK has ordered a localized adaptation of the popular U.S. docuseries Teen Mom (pictured) from producer True North.

The 8 x 60-minute Teen Mom UK, which is slated to air in the fall of 2016, will follow a cast of British girls as they balance their teenage years with motherhood.

The original series premiered in the U.S. in 2009 as a spin-off of the hit MTV series 16 and Pregnant, and also ran for 12 seasons on MTV UK.

Teen Mom UK was commissioned by Jill Offman, MD of MTV UK; Louise Holmes, VP of programming; and Kelly Bradshaw, senior director of programming.

“MTV UK has a great track record of re-versioning hit shows from our sister channel in the U.S.,” said Offman in a statement. “We’ll use this expertise to give Teen Mom a fresh lease of life, combined with a unique British twist, which we’re confident will have massive appeal to local audiences.”
