Distributor Banijay International has licensed the format Sex Academy (pictured) to RTL5 in The Netherlands.

The Dutch channel will debut a 7 x 60 minute version of the series later this year.

Originally produced by Denmark’s TV2, Sex Academy enrolls eight couples in a sex education program to learn about topics such as foreplay, sexual positions and role playing. The couples document their experiences with video cameras and are given homework to complete before the next lesson.

“[Sex Academy] tackles an often off-limits subject in an honest and engaging way,” said Sebastian Burkhardt, Banijay International’s head of sales, in a statement. “The Netherlands is at the forefront of envelope-pushing programming trends and we think the local audience will respond well to this format.”

Banijay Group’s Cuarzo Producciones recently adapted the format for Mediaset-owned Spanish network Cuatro under the title Academia del Sexo.
